Over seven hundred regular Corps Marshals and Special Marshals have been deployed across Benue State to curb road crashes during the Easter celebration.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Sector Commander in Benue State, Steve Ayodele who disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, said the Command also deployed ambulance vehicles, and a tow truck as part of its patrol logistics during the period.
Corps Commander Ayodele said the operations of the Command would cover major areas of the state, including Gboko, Katsina Ala, Otukpo among others.
According to him, a mobile court was initiated by the Command to arrest and trial traffic offenders, stating there are identified flash points that particular attention will be given to and assured Benue people of an accident-free Easter Celebration
In the meantime, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Benue State Command has disclosed that it deployed one thousand three hundred and eighty personnel across State to maintain peace, order and to provide strong surveillance on every national critical assets and infrastructure before, during and after the Easter celebrations.
The Command’s Public Relation Officer, Superintendent of Corps Michael Ejelikwu who made this known in statement on Wednesday said, the deployment is drawn from the Command’s units including, the Counter Terrorism, Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear and Explosive, Disaster Response, Crisis Management, Special Forces, Anti-Vandalism, Critical protection and the Mining Marshals.
According to the statement, the State Commandant, Yakubu Ibrahim stated the Command under his watch is aware of the security challenges in the State and gave assurances that the Corps will ensure the security of lives and property across the State, urging residents to go about their legitimate activities without fear.
He warned criminal element who will want to use the Easter holiday to vandalize government infrastructure to desist as officers and men of the Command are on surveillance and any culprit apprehended will face the full wrath of the law and advised members of the public to report any suspicious element to security agencies.
