How 46 Year Old Nigerian Law Professor was Killed by Bandits in Benue

An associate professor from the Faculty of Law at the Prince Audu Abubakar University, Kogi State, Dr. Sarinu Ettor Kabo, who was killed by terrorists about a week ago is buried at Gboloko Bassa, Dekina local government of Kogi State.

This was according to a short statement issued by Prof. Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, the Vice Chancellor of the university.

Recall that the late professor Kabo was killed in Benue State by bandits while returning to Kogi from Taraba State.

Kabo was shot dead along Makurdi-Naka Road, between Adaka and Kula communities in Benue State on Monday, April 22, 2024.

According to reports, Kabo was doing his sabbatical leave at the Taraba State University Jalingo.

Kabo’s death was described as a great loss to the university and Nigerian education at large.

Tearful Tenuche who graced the court procession in honour of the late professor condemned the circumstances leading to Kabo’s death as she called for an end to insecurity challenges in Nigeria.

The VC said, “When you hear news about insecurity and armed bandits attacks, you will think it is far and will never get to you, but here we are today mourning our very own”

“What has happened to Kabo today is the tragedy of a nation called Nigeria.”

The VC went further to sympathise with the law faculty, the wife and his family members.

Colleague and NBA Chairman Kogi State chapter, took time to describe the late professor as a good man, saying his demise had left a big vacuum for the law profession.
