The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom today joined the entire Masev nation to pay his last respect to a seasoned technocrat, community leader and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Late Engineer Samuel Orayev Utoo, FNSE who until his death was Chairman, MINDA PDP Elders’ Forum.
In his funeral oration, the former Governor extolled the qualities moral principles and leadership of the deceased, saying the late Engr. Utoo was an administrator par excellence who served Benue State and Nigeria diligently in the course of his public service career which spanned several years.
“It is important to remember the legacies that our father and uncle , Engr. Utov left behind, a legacy of integrity, peace, unity, service and love for his family and community”, Chief Ortom stated.
While praying for his gentle soul to rest in peace and for God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, Chief Ortom enjoined the family to look onto God as their source of consolation.
Member representing Makurdi South at the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Douglas Akya commended the immediate past governor for constructing good roads during his time as Governor to link Ugondo community in Makurdi and other meaningful projects which he said have brought massive development to Ugondo land.
Others who spoke at the funeral were the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Serumun Aber, Senator representing Benue South, Sen. Abba Moro, leader of PDP G14, Dr. Laha Dzever, Hon. Charles Torbunde who spoke for MINDA PDP Elders’ Forum, PDP National Chairmanship aspirant, Engr. Conrad Terhide Utaan, President General, Mnzough u Tiv, Chief Iorbee Ihagh (rtd) and the Ter Makurdi, HRH, Vincent Aule who called on Benue State Governor to immortalized the late Engr. Utoo.
In company of the immediate past governor were his former appointees and political associates including Hon. James Anbua, Barr. Micheal Gusa, Col. Paul Hemba (rtd), Hon. Ken Achabo, Hon. Abrahams Kwaghngu, Hon. Isaac Mtom, Hon. Charles Torbunde , Hon. Azua Ashongo, Hon. Daniel Nyikwagh and Hon. Caleb Abba.
Others were Dr. Laha Dzever, Chief David Amo, Hon. Philip Bem Gbe, elder Dam Ayari , elder Patrick Annakar, Hon. Nathaniel Ikyur and Hon. Pila Daniel.
