Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Da Yohanna Dalyop, describing him as a trusted friend and a brilliant mind, whose contributions to Nigeria’s energy sector were unparalleled.
Former President Buhari’s message was made available to the media on Friday in a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu.
“With the demise of Yohanna Dalyop, I have lost a valued friend, whom I have had the honour of knowing for decades. His insight on issues and nuanced understanding of matters, especially energy, had very few parallels”, Buhari said.
The late Dalyop, an accomplished pastor and engineer, devoted much of his career to researching and developing alternative energy sources for homes and institutions across Nigeria.
His work, according to the former President, led to significant advancements in addressing the country’s energy challenges.
Buhari joined Dalyop’s family, friends, and professional colleagues, as well as the government and people of Plateau State, in mourning his loss.
Reflecting on his legacy, the former President noted, “he was a great statesman and a towering intellectual. His passing away is very saddening.”
