The Osun State Government issued a warning yesterday regarding an alleged attempt by dismissed council executives to invade facilities at the state’s Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
In a statement from Dr. Adekunle Akindele, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, it was claimed that one of the controversial chairmen, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had stormed several PHCs in Ilesa Local Government.
Dr. Akindele stated that the chairman had unlawfully entered the Okeoye PHC (Ward 8), Irojo PHC (Ward 9), Okesa PHC (Ward 7), Ilemo PHC (Ward 4), and Ijamo PHC (Ward 5) under the guise of a “working visit.”
Akindele tagged the working visit of the chairman as an illegal incursion and an act of lawlessness, warning PHC workers to distance themselves from ‘unauthorised visitors’.
He said: “The visit is unauthorised, unlawful and designed to intimidate health care workers as well as disrupt essential medical services.’’
