The approval by the Federal Executive Council on Monday for the construction of a bridge across River Buruku for the sum of Eighty-Three point Seventy-Seven Billion Naira has generated reactions from a cross section of Benue people.
Those who spoke to our correspondent on development commended President Bola Tinubu for the infrastructural intervention which they noted, will add lasting value to Buruku, the State and nation at large.
Speaking, Kindred Head of Mbajor, Buruku Local Government Area, Chief Hembaor Akaangee welcomed the project to his community, and expressed gratitude to all those involved for the final approval for the project, stating that it will deal with incessant boat mishap.
On his part, a member of the Buruku Maritime Union of Nigeria, at the Buruku River crossing point, Moses Torver lauded the President for the bold step, saying, irrespective of how it will affect their business, the project when executed it will bring development to Buruku and also link Benue to other Northern parts of the country.
Also reacting, Former House of Representative for Buruku Federal Constituency, Kpam Sokpo noted that approval for the construction of the bridge came as a result of meeting all necessary processes and was deemed worthy of certification, commending Federal Executive Council for the approval.
The former Federal lawmaker acknowledged that the bridge would boost local markets and the State economy, adding that it will be critical to inter and intra State travels.
A taxi driver who plies the Buruku to Logo route, Victor Akumave, said the bridge will reduce their suffering and dangers associated with crossing with vehicles on the boat, saying it will be a faster means for motorists.
