….Alia Insists Omakolo is Authentic Chairman
…As Agada Constitutes LG Polls Committee
The effort of the paramount ruler of the Tiv Nation, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh Professor James Iorzua Ayatse recently to broker peace between the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume does not seem to yield positive results yet.
This is because the duo have continued to throw banters at each other through their personal aides.
For instance, the Chief of Staff to Governor Alia, Mr. Paul Biam told a gathering last week at a burial in Vandekya that the APC in Benue State has two factions describing the faction against Governor Alia as fake.
“Alia is the authentic leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state and anyone who is against the Governor is an enemy, Benjamin Omakolo is the state party chairman”.
“There are no two Governors in the state and anyone who is against the Governor is an enemy .”
This statement was captured in a video which has gone viral, where the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Tersoo Kula and the factional State Chairman of the party Benjamin Omakolo were also present.
Meanwhile, the controversial State Chairman of the party, Austin Agada who has his loyalty to the SGF, Senator George Akume has approved the constitution of a Zoning Committee for the forth-coming Local Government Council elections in the state.
A statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the faction, Daniel Ihomun, said the committee which has seven members each from the three senatorial districts was charged to follow the guidelines and timetable of activities released by the State Independent Electoral Commission perfect the zoning arrangements for the Chairmanship and Councilorship positions at the Local Government and Ward levels to ease the committee’s assignment.
Observers say except something very significant is done, there is no hope for peace in the party in the state in the nearest future.
