EFCC denies releasing list of erstwhile governors under investigation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has dissociated itself from a report circulating in sections of the media that it has released a full list of erstwhile governors being investigated for alleged corruption.

The Commission described the report entitled, EFCC releases full list of fifty-eight ex- governors that embezzled two point one-eight-seven trillion Naira as false and mischievous.

The Commission said it neither issued the said list nor entertained discussions on investigation of ex-governors with any news medium.

According to a statement by the Head, Media and Publicity of the Commission, Dele Oyewale the list is a fabrication designed to achieve motives known only to the authors.

The EFCC spokesperson enjoined the public to ignore the report, stressing that it is false and misleading and further advised the media to always crosscheck facts pertaining to matters under investigation with the Commission to avoid misleading the public with false and inaccurate reports.
