The Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Benue State Chapter is to further draw attention to the societal values of literary activities through the hosting of a memorable annual State Convention this year.
Chairman of the association in the state, Barrister Onwanyi Ulegede made this declaration in Makurdi, Saturday while inaugurating the Central Planning Committee for the event.
Barrister Ulegede noted that as one of the most creative and active ANA chapters in the country, a convention organised by the Benue Chapter must adequately reflect the pride of place the state occupies in the literary and creative arts circles.
She said members of the committee were deliberately chosen in recognition of their experience and passion for the promotion of literary creativity and activities of ANA, reminding them that nothing short of a superlative performance was expected of them.
The ANA Chairman assured members of the committee that the State Executive Committee would stand by them, and appealed to all other members of the association to fully support them to succeed.
Responding on behalf of members of the Planning Committee, it’s Chairman and immediate past National General Secretary of ANA, Maik Ortserga promised that they would do their best to deliver on the assignment.
Mr. Ortserga who is currently an Ex-officio of ANA at the national level, however appealed to every member of the association and the public, especially lovers of literature, to support the committee to succeed.
In separate remarks, some members of ANA including a Fellow of the association, Doctor Raymond Aumve, Igba Ogbole, Barrister Inori Agogo-Amara and Mrs. Regina Achie-Nege all expressed confidence in the capacity of the Committee to organise a successful convention but emphasised the need for support from all and sundry.
