Supreme Court dismisses suit seeking Tinubu’s removal

The State House has allocated N15.09 billion for the purchase of tyres for various vehicles, including bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, operational cars, and plain vehicles. Additionally, funds have been earmarked for the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants. The budget also includes a proposed N5.49 billion for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa.
These details were revealed in the 2025 Appropriation Bill, which was released by the Budget Office of the Federation on Thursday. On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu presented the budget, titled “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” to a joint session of the National Assembly. The budget outlines a comprehensive N49.70 trillion spending plan, prioritizing defense, infrastructure, and human capital development, with a projected deficit of N13.39 trillion, to be financed through borrowing.
During his address to the National Assembly, President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and revamping the country’s infrastructure.
According to the appropriation document obtained by our correspondent, the State House, as the administrative center for the executive branch, will spend N164 million on tyres for bulletproof vehicles, cars, jeeps, trucks, and other operational vehicles. This amount includes N1.1 billion for replacing SUVs and N3.66 billion for acquiring operational vehicles. Furthermore, N127.86 million will be allocated for SUVs for the President and Vice President, under the Office of the President.
In addition, the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President has been allocated N285 million for vehicle purchases, while the Chief Security Officer to the President will receive N179.63 million for security and operational vehicle purchases.
The budget also provides N2.12 billion for honorarium and sitting allowances, as well as N1.83 billion for the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
The 2025 Appropriation Bill, currently under review by the National Assembly, allocates N4.91 trillion for defense and security. Infrastructure projects, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, will receive N4.06 trillion. The President has also proposed substantial allocations for education and healthcare. Education will receive N3.52 trillion, which includes funding for Universal Basic Education and the establishment of nine new higher institutions, while the health sector will receive N2.48 trillion to enhance healthcare systems and provide essential medications for public hospitals.
The budget is based on key economic assumptions, including a projected decline in inflation from 34.6% to 15%, and an improvement in the naira exchange rate from N1,700 per dollar to N1,500 per dollar.
