Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South District and serving as the Senate Minority Leader, has condemned the recent killing of four individuals from the Ezza-Ezekuna community in Azaoke, Ado Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State. The victims were reportedly murdered by suspected armed men from the Akparata community in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State.
Senator Moro, who expressed concern over the worsening communal conflict in the neighboring state and its impact on Ado LGA, called on the conflicting parties to lay down their arms. In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel John, the lawmaker emphasized that the ongoing loss of lives and property, particularly affecting the Ezzas and Effiumites in Ado LGA, must come to an end for the sake of peace.
Part of the statement read “Senator Moro decries the Ezza/Effium crisis in Ebonyi State that has spilled over to Ado LGA leading to continued loss of lives and properties of the Ezzas and Effiumites in the LGA.
“The latest is the recent attack where over four persons of Ezza-Ezekuna community were murdered in cold blood at Azaoke, in Ado LGA.
“Senator Moro condemns the unprovoked attack and calls on the Benue State Government to take urgent steps towards addressing the problem with a view to putting an end to the mindless killings.
“He also calls on security agents to be on their toes and forestall further attacks on his constituents so that they can go about their normal businesses without let or hindrances.
“The Minority Leader sympathizes with the families of those killed and assures that everything possible will be done to protect the lives and properties of the people.”
