Former Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Benue State, Dr. James Anbua has said the immediate past Governor of the state, Chief Samuel Ortom has positively impacted on his life in ways too numerous to mention.
Dr. Anbua stated this at NKST Church Iortyer in Makurdi, during a thanksgiving he and his family organized to appreciate God for clocking 60 years.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Dr. Anbua recalled how he met Chief Ortom, noting that both of them have somethings in common especially their humble backgrounds, and above all, the fear of God.
While appreciating God for making it possible for him to survive turbulent times in his life to be able to attain the age of 60, Hon. Anbua attributed majority of his achievements in public service and politics in particular to Chief Ortom, describing him as a father, mentor, elder brother and friend.
In his remarks, the immediate past Benue Governor, Chief Samuel Ortom poured encomiums on Dr. Anbua, describing him as an honest, God fearing and humble man.
“Anbua has maintained a very close relationship with me and my family for 32 years now and what has kept our close ties is the fear of God, sincerity and humility”, Ortom noted.
While thanking God for the life of the celebrant, Chief Ortom said his relationship with Dr. Anbua has since turned to that of blood relations and no longer that of an aide to a principal, adding that for 32 years since their paths crossed, no day passes by without seeing or hearing from Anbua and prayed God to grant the celebrant more years in good health .
Earlier in a sermon, the resident pastor of NKST Iortyer, Revd. Augustine Akpen Leva enjoined Christians to always look unto God in all situations, making specific references to the life of the celebrant whom he described as a trustworthy and God fearing man whom he has known for over 20 years.
Speaking on behalf of former colleagues of Dr. James Anbua, erstwhile Commissioner for Education, Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongu described the celebrant and as team player, whom he said is also a very humble and hardworking person.
Chief Ortom was accompanied to the thanksgiving service by his former aides and political associates including Hon. Bernard Unenge, Prof. Joseph Ngbea, Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongu, Hon. Terver Akase and Hon. Abrahams Kwaghngu.
Others were , Chief Joseph Odaudu, Hon. Nathaniel Ikyur, Hon. Isaac Mtom, Dr. Laha Dzever, Chief David Amo, Hon. Jerome Uyina, Hon. Abraham Waroh, Hon. Vera Akua and Hon. Emmanuel Ukaa, among several others.
