Former Attorney General of the Federation and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, joined the people of Igede on Friday to mark this year’s Igede Agba New Yam Festival in Oju, declaring a strong commitment to promoting cultural heritage and critical regional infrastructure.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 Benue State gubernatorial election, attended the event alongside the Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro.
Describing Igede Agba as a powerful symbol of unity, identity, and tradition, the 2027 Benue Governorship hopeful, Chief Aondoakaa commended the Igede people for preserving their ancestral heritage and pledged to continue attending and supporting future editions of the annual festival.
Addressing the central developmental challenges facing the area, the PDP candidate highlighted the urgent necessity of constructing vital road networks connecting the two Igede-speaking local government areas with the broader state.
Senator Moro formally presented Aondoakaa to the gathered crowd, endorsing him as a proven leader equipped to handle Benue’s governance demands.
”Chief Aondoakaa possesses the experience, competence, and exposure needed to address the challenges confronting Benue State,” Moro stated, expressing confidence that the electorate would be well served by his leadership in 2027.
Prior to the main ceremony, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the paramount ruler of Igede land, the Adirahu Ny’Igede, His Royal Highness Chief Oga Ero, to extend formal congratulations on the celebration.
Aondoakaa’s entourage included his running mate, Dr. Oyije Ochaekiti Ogbenjuwa, Benue State PDP Chairman Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, alongside key party chieftains and regional stakeholders.
