2027 ZONE B SENATE: MRS. ORTOM CONSULTS NONGOV NATION, RECEIVES BACKING

The ongoing consultations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Benue North-West, Dr. Eunice Ortom, received a major boost as the Nongov Nation in Guma Local Government Area expressed its support for her senatorial ambition. Dr. Ortom, accompanied by her husband and immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom; the PDP Governorship Candidate, Chief Mike Aondoakaa, SAN; the candidate for Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency, Dr. Emmanuel Shior; and other party stalwarts, was formally presented to the Nongov Nation.

Presenting the candidate, the PDP Leader in Nongov, Elder Charles Torbunde, said the choice of Dr. Eunice Ortom was a collective decision reached by the Minda elders in recognition of her sterling leadership qualities and the impact she made during her time as First Lady of Benue State. He expressed confidence that she would make the people proud and raise the bar of representation if elected to represent Zone B in the Senate. He thereafter presented her to the President-General of Nongov Worldwide, Mr. Benjamin Yuan, who welcomed the candidate and pledged the support of the Nongov Nation, describing her as not only a wife of the people but also a mother whose love, care and developmental initiatives had positively impacted many Nongov sons and daughters.

Speaking on behalf of Nzorov, Kaambe and Saghev Council Wards, as well as Abinsi, Moses Mpev, Timothy Iorsheregh, Jombu Gudu and Bawa Asumogo, said Dr. Eunice Ortom remained a unifying candidate capable of adequately representing the interests of the people of Zone B and contributing to the overall development of the district. They expressed their confidence in her candidacy before decorating Dr. Ortom, Chief Samuel Ortom and Chief Mike Aondoakaa in a symbolic demonstration of their acceptance and solidarity.

On behalf of the party, the PDP Chairman, Guma Local Government, Simon Anyamkande; State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Azua Ashongu; and Hon. Mrs. Elizabeth Apenzan, urged the Nongov people to rally behind Dr. Eunice Ortom and the other PDP candidates. They stressed the need for continued support for Chief Samuel Ortom, whom they described as the anointed leader of the Nongov Nation, noting his contributions to projecting the people and placing Nongov on the global map.

Chief Samuel Ortom appealed to the people to extend to his wife the same support and confidence they had given him over the years. He also solicited their support for Chief Mike Aondoakaa, SAN, Dr. Emmanuel Shior and other PDP candidates, assuring that they would not disappoint the people if given the opportunity to serve. In his remarks, Chief Mike Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, described the overwhelming show of solidarity from the Nongov Nation towards the Ortoms as a warm gesture worthy of emulation. He pledged his loyalty to Chief Samuel Ortom and assured the people of his commitment to sustaining his legacies.

Responding to the gesture, Dr. Eunice Ortom expressed appreciation to the Nongov Nation for the support and goodwill extended to her and her family over the years, as well as the fresh assurance of support for her senatorial ambition. She said she was ready to work collectively with the people throughout the campaign and, if elected, would remain committed to working with them in advancing the interests and development of the people of Benue North-West Senatorial District.
