Benue State Health Insurance Agency, BENSHIA, says enrollment of new beneficiaries of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund is ongoing in two hundred and seventy-six health facilities across the state.
Executive Secretary of the Agency, Doctor Moses Asough, stated this on Friday at the end of an inspection of the enrollment exercise in Otukpo Local Government Area, where he expressed satisfaction with the exercise and disclosed that the federal government has directed the enrollment of additional beneficiaries.
Speaking on the development, the Deputy Director Otukpo Local Government Health Authority and Desk Officer for BENSHIA in the area, Mrs Grace Okpe, expressed gratitude with the exercise, saying it will cover more persons and appreciated the agency for its diligence with the programme.
For the Asa Ward Development Chairman in Otukpo, about a hundred persons had so far been registered at the Primary Healthcare Centre Asa, expressing hope that more persons would be captured to fill the one hundred and seventy slots given to the area.
One of the enrollment officers in Otukpo Township, Nichodemus Iorwa, who said the exercise was going on smoothly, also shared his experience.
Some of the new enrollees who spoke to our correspondent including Ali Amali, Maimunat Musa and Shaibu Aaka all expressed gratitude for the exercise with the hope that its aim would be achieved as soon as possible.
Correspondent who accompanied the Executive Secretary reports that the exercise which is targeted at providing free healthcare to the less privileged including pregnant women, widows, widowers and children under five years among others is supposed to have the prospective beneficiaries join existing ones to access free healthcare as soon as they are successfully enlisted.
